Meet Made x MOM

Meet Brooke! Aka MADE X MOM, an emerging multidisciplinary artist, active in Dallas since 2008. Their recent work features a variety of mediums. Inspired by experimentation with contrast, balance, and color, landscapes are given a new breath between unexpected color stories and illusionary stripes.

If you haven't had the chance yet, walking into Brooke's install inside Rewind is a little like walking into A Bug's Life. Known for their colorful striped landscapes and whimsical smails, Brooke pushes the limit of what is possible by using scale and color. Their Install "The Sky's The Limit" makes you realize big things are possible, even when you feel small.

Read on to learn more about Brooke and the story behind their installation.

What is your medium of choice and why?

At the moment it is acrylic paint because it easy to work with as well as therapeutic. It's nice to have something stationary to pour yourself into for hours.

What is your earliest memory of creating art?

Drawing christmas imagery on ceramic tiles with sharpies in elementary school.

Where does your inspiration come from?

Mostly any visual media (i.e. movies, art, etc) but cartoons and anime are my favorites.

Where did the idea for your STH installation come from?

My installation was initially inspired by my abstract landscape paintings and sad snail sculptures. The easiest way to create a wow factor is through scale and/or quantity so I decided to do both. During the process of creating my installation I watched lots of movies that featured small characters in oversized settings like Alice in Wonderland, Honey I Shrunk the Kids, and A Bug's Life (to name a few).

What's next for you?

Going into my second year of being an independent artist, I'm looking forward to learning more new skills.

Where can visitors find out more about your work?
